Rawang-Kampung Baru Sejantung-Tanjung Malim-Rawang

I really missed touring on my bicycle. That is why I grabbed the opportunity to go touring when the opportunity arises. Blocking the date off and not taking any tours during 29-30 July 2017. A short getaway but filled with laughter, good camaraderie.

We ate alot of local food, usually recommended and famous small town dishes.

It was a hot hot humid ride as we attacked the dragonbacks during mid day sun. We obviously had alot of food stops till we departed quite late in the mid day sun. We reached our accommodation around half eight at night, going off road at one of the darkest village roads. It amazes me how a small turn could lead to another village tucked deep inside a road.

A few memorable moments I would like to note down:

  1. As we cycle out the next day, we were the last two to cycle out after a cooling dip at the river, we saw 4-5 boys cycling without their shirt. I asked them were they from the river? They said, ‘Yes’, with a gleam in their eyes. As they cycled, they showed their skills riding a bicycle. They were very efficient on their bicycles, displaying the ‘superman’ act-balancing their whole body on the bike seat, being able to put on their shirt while cycling and braking suddenly with their feet on the ground as their bicycles had no brakes. These children showed they had fun. They had the enjoyment of a child and know the meaning of being one with nature. I witness childhood happiness and it reminded me of mine when I was their age. I just vow that I am able to show and share this childhood happiness I see, have and feel with my future children and grandchildren, if at all any of mother nature is left.
  2. The glaring sunset as I cycled along Kuala Kubu Road. This was one of the first roads built in Peninsular Malaya to channel tin and rubber out of Genting Highlands. It was glaring spectacularly blinding me. It felt good as I know I had made the fullest of my day. I made new friends and made connections in Rasa and Kuala Kubu Baru village. I also know another day has gone and a new day awaits me. Thank you to my Creator for making this day another great touring experience.
  3. Lying down on a mat watching the night sky instead of staying inside the tent was another great experience.  I always think who is also staring at the same night sky  as me. And the American Tale song ‘Somewhere out there’ would come to mind.

A well spent weekend, lots of experiences and memories inked in my mind.
