Market Visit, Garden to Table & Cooking Class
Bike to visit a market in the city, where locals congregate to meet their friends for breakfast after they are done with marketing vegetables, fruits and meat. Fishmongers, butchers, fruits and vegetable sellers shout loudly as they grab your attention to make sales for the day. We then cycle through alleyways seeing how the locals live in one of the oldest village called Kampung Baru. Houses here are built on stilts to overcome floods back in 1881. Due to rapid urban development, there are a handful of these stilt houses left. We then cycle for our cooking class where you get to learn how to make ‘Nasi Ulam’, rice filled with local salad and pounded sambal (chillies).
Learn how to make ‘Nasi Ulam’ the local way from #gardentotable. Afi will share how to make your own nasi ulam. Hands on gardening will be done by Illi. Both will share about the benefit of ulam-ulaman (herbs) and also share tips on how to grow some of the selected ulam (herbs) that is used in the dish.
